Webinar: "China's Legal System and How It Differs from Russia's"
As part of MGIMO Career Week, head of the Chinese law practice, hosted a webinar for students on the topic “The Chinese Legal System and Its Differences from the Russian One.”

During the webinar, Chuck:

  • provided an overview of the origins of Chinese law and the development of the Chinese legal system, highlighting the most distinctive features of Chinese jurisprudence

  • drew parallels between Chinese law and the Russian legal system and highlighted the differences

  • discussed legal forms of business organization in China and what investors in the Chinese economy need to know

  • debunked common misconceptions, particularly regarding social credit in China

  • highlighted the cultural nuances of Chinese partners and taught the art of negotiating with them

  • explained how and why Chinese companies turn their employees into “wolves” and offered advice on how to “dance with the wolves”
