An open meeting of ICC Russia on Intellectual Property was held on July 1st. The discussion focused on the new draft federal law “On the Platform Economy in the Russian Federation”, submitted by the Ministry of Economic Development to the Russian Government in February 2025.

The Novosibirsk-based car dealership network "Autocity" (Autocity LLC) has announced a default on digital financial assets (DFAs) totaling 200 million rubles. This default is the first in Russia on such financial instruments.

On June 10, the Moscow Exchange has launched the calculation and publication of a Bitcoin index. It is calculated once a day – at 12:30 Moscow time. The calculation includes data on perpetual futures and swaps for the BTC/USDT pair from the following crypto exchanges: Binance, Bybit, OKX, and Bitget. The calculation is based on the weighted average price, taking into account trading volumes on each platform. The Moscow Exchange reports that the weighting coefficients will be reviewed quarterly.

Federal Law No. 275-FZ “On Amending the Federal Law ‘On Banks and Banking Activities’ and Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation”, which allowed foreign banks to open branches in Russia and conduct certain banking operations through them, came into force on September 1, 2024. However, to date, no foreign bank has taken advantage of this opportunity.

Choosing a jurisdiction for resolving disputes with Chinese counterparts is a complex task, requiring careful analysis of numerous factors, including the enforceability of a judgment and the specific legislation of both countries. Kyrgyzstan plans to launch USDKG – a state-backed stablecoin with a gold reserve and pegged to the US dollar – in the third quarter of 2025, targeting cross-border payments and international trade in Central Asia. Simultaneously, in the UAE, the country’s largest financial institutions, under the supervision of the Central Bank of the UAE, are issuing a stablecoin backed by the dirham, with the aim of accelerating and reducing the cost of payments, as well as developing the digital economy.

On May 27th, a roundtable discussion “Civil Code: Current Changes in Corporate Transaction Regulation” was held in Minsk . There is no unified regulation for investment protection in BRICS countries, instead, bilateral and multilateral investment treaties (BITs) between BRICS member states are utilized. These agreements provide standard mechanisms, but with specific features and exceptions that investors must consider. For example, not all BITs allow for disputes to be referred to arbitration, and some only protect investments made for a certain period.
