On October 22-24, Kazan hosted the XVI BRICS Summit, which became the central event of the Russian presidency in the association in 2024.

The Russian presidency focused on the following areas:

Development of legal status of the BRICS partner countries;
Co-operation in cross-border payments and interbank cooperation;
Greater use of national currencies in trade among BRICS countries;
Creation of a unified BRICS settlement, insurance and depository infrastructure;
Closer co-operation in agriculture and on food security issues.

Our attention is closely focused on BRICS, together with our colleagues from Kesarev, we announce a joint business breakfast where we will:

Summarize the results of the Russian presidency;
Discuss the expectations from the group in 2025, when Brazil will take over the presidency;
Explain how BRICS and its institutions can be useful for doing business.

The calculation includes data on perpetual futures and swaps for the BTC/USDT pair from the following crypto exchanges: Binance, Bybit, OKX, and Bitget. The calculation is based on the weighted average price, taking into account trading volumes on each platform. The Moscow Exchange reports that the weighting coefficients will be reviewed quarterly.

The year 2023 was marked by an intensification of sanctions pressure against Russia. According to some estimates, the number of personal sanctions imposed on Russian companies and individuals (“blocking sanctions”) alone is now approaching 20,000. Many countries have also started to develop legal mechanisms aimed at countering the sanctions circumvention. It is not easy to navigate such a large-scale and multifaceted sanctions regime and keep up with the details of how the sanctions are applied in practice. In this review, we present what we consider to be the key developments in the area of sanctions and their application in 2023, in the United States, the European Union and the United Kingdom, as well as likely trends in this area in 2024, which should be taken into account when doing business.
