Chuck Peng speaks at a leading business conference in Harbin
On August 24th, the annual Taiyandao Business Conference was held in Harbin with more than 1 000 participants including Chinese officials, businessmen, industry experts and other attendees. KKMP China Desk Head Senior Associate Chuck Peng spoke at the conference in a panel on the digitalization of state-owned enterprises with a presentation on how legal services help Chinese enterprises to effectively invest in Russia.

Chuck Peng devoted the presentation to the following key issues:

  • Sanctions risks when trading with Russian enterprises and investing in Russian projects, including secondary sanctions issues.

  • Problems of cross-border settlements between Russian and Chinese companies.

  • Various forms of making investments in Russia, including corporate and contractual forms, as well as issues of regulatory approvals of certain investments in Russia.

  • Problems of resolving disputes with Russian parties under the current sanctions policy.

The speech aroused great interest among the audience. Chuck Peng also gave several interviews to local journalists about both legal issues and the ‘entrepreneurial spirit’ of Chinese and Russian businessmen.
