This year, the number of participating teams doubled. Of the 48 teams, the 24 strongest teams from Russia and CIS countries advanced to the in-person round. In a mock arbitration hearing format, the students demonstrated their mastery of the law. As part of the competition, teams first had to draft memoranda for the plaintiff and defendant based on a case scenario that addressed several legal issues and cases. They then had to defend their positions in the in-person rounds using the same scenario.
Lawyers from KKMP served as coaches for the teams that achieved top results.
Senior Associate Valerian Mamageishvili served as one of the coaches for Team No. 22 (Lomonosov Moscow State University). The team advanced to the quarterfinals. And one of the team members, Karina Naumova, won the individual award for “Best Plaintiff’s Representative.”
Team No. 34 (HSE University), coached in part by legal assistant Dmitry Lukyanov, advanced to the semifinals and finished in third place overall. Team representative Viktoria Movchan won the “Best Defendant’s Counsel” award.
We thank the organizers for their excellent preparation of the competition and are pleased to congratulate the winners on their outstanding achievement!
