KKMP Advises on Acquisition of Kazakhmys Group
KKMP team advised the buyer group on one of the largest transactions in the CIS mining sector. Our firm provided comprehensive legal support for the acquisition of "Kazakhmys Corporation" LLP – the head company of Kazakhmys Group, a global leader in copper production.

The transaction team included Partner Denis Ivanov, Counsel Andrey Lipin, Valerian Mamageishvili, and Vadim Nikitin.

Kazakhmys Group is a vertically integrated holding company with key assets concentrated in the mining and non-ferrous metallurgy sectors. Kazakhmys is the largest copper producer in Kazakhstan, ranks 20th globally in copper concentrate output, and 12th in blister and cathode copper production. The group employs approximately 38,000 people.

The Bank of Russia, in conjunction with the Ministry of Finance, has published Recommendations on the development of long-term equity-based incentive programs for members of the executive bodies and other key employees of public joint-stock companies whose shares are admitted to organized trading, as well as joint-stock companies planning a public offering of their shares, (“Program”) with the aim of increasing their shareholder value (“Recommendations”). The document is part of a broader agenda to increase the market capitalization of the Russian stock market and develop equity-based management incentives.
