Roman Sadovsky joined the team 17 years ago as a paralegal and has worked his way up to his current position. He has completed numerous successful projects in the fields of corporate law, M&A, dispute resolution and real estate, in addition to his main specialization of insurance law. The standard directors' and officers' liability insurance contracts which he developed are now used as models of best practice in the insurance market.

The Novosibirsk-based car dealership network "Autocity" (Autocity LLC) has announced a default on digital financial assets (DFAs) totaling 200 million rubles. This default is the first in Russia on such financial instruments.
On June 10, the Moscow Exchange has launched the calculation and publication of a Bitcoin index. It is calculated once a day – at 12:30 Moscow time. The calculation includes data on perpetual futures and swaps for the BTC/USDT pair from the following crypto exchanges: Binance, Bybit, OKX, and Bitget. The calculation is based on the weighted average price, taking into account trading volumes on each platform. The Moscow Exchange reports that the weighting coefficients will be reviewed quarterly.
Federal Law No. 275-FZ “On Amending the Federal Law ‘On Banks and Banking Activities’ and Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation”, which allowed foreign banks to open branches in Russia and conduct certain banking operations through them, came into force on September 1, 2024. However, to date, no foreign bank has taken advantage of this opportunity.

On April 25, an article appeared in the Kommersant newspaper noting an increase in demand for services from large Russian banks not only from Chinese citizens, but also from companies. New individual clients are attracted by, in particular, favorable deposit and savings account offers, while companies are drawn to convenient settlement and cash services. There is no unified regulation for investment protection in BRICS countries, instead, bilateral and multilateral investment treaties (BITs) between BRICS member states are utilized. These agreements provide standard mechanisms, but with specific features and exceptions that investors must consider. On November 26, Bill No. 1065710-7 on Amendments to Parts One and Two of the Tax Code of the Russian Federation and Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation was adopted in the second and third readings by the State Duma. The Bill sets forth the procedure for taxation of digital currency transactions.

In December 2022, certain European bar associations and lawyers, specifically, The Netherlands Bar of Brussels (Ordre néerlandais des avocats du barreau de Bruxelles) (Case No. T-797/22), The Bar Association of the Court of Paris (Ordre des avocats à la cour de Paris) (Case No. T-798/22) and ACE-Avocats (Case No. T-828/22) filed their claims with the General Court of the EU (“EU Court”) contending that the Court should repeal the prohibition on provision of legal advisory services imposed by “sectoral” Council Regulation (EU) No. 833/2014 (“Regulation 833/2014”) as part of the 8th package of sanctions. On 2 October 2024, the EU Court decided to uphold the prohibition making a few important conclusions that we include below.

Prior to the Council of Europe's adoption, the Directive was approved by the European Parliament on March 12, 2024.
