KKMP Named Leading Legal Services Provider in China by Pravo.ru
Analysts at Pravo.ru conducted a comprehensive study of the Russian legal market in China, ranking KKMP as #1 in the “Corporate Law/M&A” category. We sincerely thank the Pravo.ru analysts for their high evaluation of our work and recognition of our contribution to the development of Russian-Chinese cooperation.

The experts also highlighted the unique nature of the Chinese legal jurisdiction, noting that effective delivery of legal services related to local law is virtually impossible without knowledge of the language and culture. Russian lawyers working on Chinese projects typically act as navigators, guiding clients through unfamiliar legal landscapes, or as intermediaries facilitating communication with local law firms. However, clients benefit from having a lawyer qualified in PRC law in-house, as it allows for prompt and high-quality service, helps identify the right specialists in China, builds stronger relationships with Chinese firms, ensures tasks are clearly communicated, and allows for verification of results.

KKMP Managing Partner Maxim Kuleshov comments on the firm’s approach:

We have a dedicated associate, the Head of our China Desk, Chuck Peng, who can quickly consult on a wide range of issues. For larger teams or highly specialized expertise, we engage suitable lawyers in China, managing the interaction to ensure the final result fully meets the client’s needs.

On April 25, an article appeared in the Kommersant newspaper noting an increase in demand for services from large Russian banks not only from Chinese citizens, but also from companies. New individual clients are attracted by, in particular, favorable deposit and savings account offers, while companies are drawn to convenient settlement and cash services. This increase in demand for services from Russian banks is linked to the growing economic interaction between the two countries.
