The Novosibirsk-based car dealership network "Autocity" (Autocity LLC) has announced a default on digital financial assets (DFAs) totaling 200 million rubles. This default is the first in Russia on such financial instruments.
On June 10, the Moscow Exchange has launched the calculation and publication of a Bitcoin index. It is calculated once a day – at 12:30 Moscow time. The calculation includes data on perpetual futures and swaps for the BTC/USDT pair from the following crypto exchanges: Binance, Bybit, OKX, and Bitget. The calculation is based on the weighted average price, taking into account trading volumes on each platform. The Moscow Exchange reports that the weighting coefficients will be reviewed quarterly.
Federal Law No. 275-FZ “On Amending the Federal Law ‘On Banks and Banking Activities’ and Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation”, which allowed foreign banks to open branches in Russia and conduct certain banking operations through them, came into force on September 1, 2024. Kyrgyzstan plans to launch USDKG – a state-backed stablecoin with a gold reserve and pegged to the US dollar – in the third quarter of 2025, targeting cross-border payments and international trade in Central Asia. On April 25, an article appeared in the Kommersant newspaper noting an increase in demand for services from large Russian banks not only from Chinese citizens, but also from companies. New individual clients are attracted by, in particular, favorable deposit and savings account offers, while companies are drawn to convenient settlement and cash services. There is no unified regulation for investment protection in BRICS countries, instead, bilateral and multilateral investment treaties (BITs) between BRICS member states are utilized. These agreements provide standard mechanisms, but with specific features and exceptions that investors must consider. For example, not all BITs allow for disputes to be referred to arbitration, and some only protect investments made for a certain period.
