On August 11, 2026, the AEB Committee on Finance and Investment held a public event titled “Overview of Recent Restrictions and Changes: What Businesses Need to Know.”
Elvira Khasanova, a senior associate at KKMP, participated in the discussion titled “The 21st Sanctions Package and Other EU Updates,” outlining the key changes in the latest EU sanctions package targeting the Russian financial sector, including:
- A transaction ban on 33 Russian banks,
- A transaction ban on 17 financial and crypto companies,
- New grounds for obtaining authorizations to complete settlements with banks and crypto companies subject to the transaction ban,
New measures to counter the circumvention of EU sanctions by prohibiting crypto settlements with third countries where the EU Council identifies signs of sanctions circumvention through the provision of services related to crypto assets.
